Lampkin breaks Delaware record in the 200
Delaware State Meet Higlights - Mary Albl It took a few extra days to complete the DIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, but it was well worth the wait for many athletes. After completing Day 1 on Friday, the state meet was postponed till Monday at Dover High due to weather. Middletown High junior Daija Lampkin made the most of wait as she won four events in the Division 1 meet. Lampkin picked up wins in the 100 (11.94), 200 (24.38), 400 (55.45) and anchored the 4x200 relay (1:41.75). Her 100 and 400 times were D1 meet records. The state meet was a bit of a tune up as she'll now go compete this weekend in the Caribbean Scholastic Invitational (Havana). Sophomore Lydia Olivere of Padua was impressive in the distance events as she won the 800 (2:17.49), 1,600 (5:09.06) and 3,200 (10:34.86). She helped guide her team to a D1 crown and set a meet and division record in the 3,200. Padua swept the relay events, winning the 4x1, 4x2, 4x4 and 4x8. In the field, Padua junior Darby Deutsch set a meet and division record in the pole vault clearing 11-9. In Division 2 action, Micaiah Dendy of St. Georges won the long jump with a division record leap of 18-5.50. In the boys action, the drama was in Division 2 as Tatnall and St. Georges tied with 96 points each, a first in state meet history. Tatnall's Michael Flanagan was a big reason for a share of the state title as he won the 800 (1:57.70), 1,600 (4:25.82), 3,200 (9:37.75) and ran on the 4x8. Lake Forest sophomore Isaiah Morris won the high jump (6-6).
